Overview of DebugFactory for AM1 STARTER KIT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DebugFactory is an integrated development environment for performing Microcomputer programming development and debugging. It enables various tasks to be performed, from source editing through compiling and linking, setting of compiler options, and debugging with the actual device. DebugFactory includes the following functions. -Project management function This function creates a Project file. A Project file contains information such as related source file names and information on compiler options and so forth. This information is used to create a make file. A number of make files can be managed by one Project. -Source code editing function DebugFactory has an editor. When the code complementation function is used, candidate items are listed without having to key-in every word. Use of the file outline function makes it possible to view a list of functions and variables contained in the file being displayed by the editor, and clicking an item in that list displays the relevant location. Functions such as string search and GREP necessary for source code editing are also provided. If the user does not want to use the DebugFactory editor, a commercially available editor can be specified by means of an option setting, and source can also be displayed by the specified commercially available editor when a source selection is made in the source file list. -Build functions DebugFactory includes a make tool, enabling compiling or linking to be performed with a single click. However, DebugFactory does not include a compiler, and a compiler path must be set up before performing compilation. When compiling simply on a trial basis, the trial-version compiler incorporated in DebugFactory can be used. DebugFactory can create a make file automatically. It is also possible to perform compiling and linking using an existing make file, or specify a batch file, instead of using a make file created by DebugFactory. -Debugging functions It is possible to carry out debugging using the actual device by means of an ICE, on-board debugging tools, or the like, or debugging without using the actual device by means of the MSI. Debugging functions include display and manipulation of memory and registers, GO execution, step execution, step-out execution, COME execution, Software break, inspect display, and watch display. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Requirements Environment -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DebugFactory Builder is designed to be used with a 32-bit operating system such as Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or WindowsXP. Windows 3.1 Windows95 is not supported. The following environment is necessary in order to use DebugFactory Builder. OS Windows98SE/Me/2000/XP (Windows2000/XP recommended) CPU Pentium 133MHz or higher (Pentium2 400MHz or higher recommended) Memory Minimum 64 Mbytes (minimum 128 MBytes recommended) Vacant hard disk capacity Minimum 200 Mbytes (minimum 400 Mbytes recommended) * Users who do not have Internet Explorer Version 5.0 or later installed may find that window images and Help messages are not displayed. Such users should either install Internet Explorer Version 5.0 or later, or download 50comupd.exe and Hhupd.exe from the following Microsoft sites, and perform a version upgrade. Install -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Installation of DebugFactory main unit Start installation with DebugFactory's Setup.exe. -Driver installation When using a DebugFactory Builder for AM1 STARTER KIT, carry out instantaneous of the USB device driver. Look "Builder Help" for the method. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Start up -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For start up DebugFactory Builder, select "Program / Panasonic DebugFactory" in "start" botton or double clic the icon named "DFBuilder for 乧" on the desk top.
